Shipping Information

We ship our plants to you using United Parcel Service (UPS) or the US Mail (USPS). As a standard practice, we ship using the least expensive cost to you that we can, that insures that your plants are protected and arrive in good condition.

To reduce shipping weight, many of our plants are shipped out of their pots with the root ball intact, and others, such as clematis, are shipped in their containers. All plants are packaged to insure they do not dry out or become damaged in shipping.

We will ship your complete order as close to your preferred shipping date as possible. During our peak shipping times (April through June) there may be up to a three-week delay in shipping orders. We do our best not to back-order plants, if it should become necessary  to split an order because of an delay due to a shortage of one plant we will consult with the customer before splitting the order. Please remember that our shipping season is determined by local climatic conditions. Should conditions be unfavorable, we will wait to ship until an appropriate time. In general, our shipping season begins in February and continues through mid-November. For exceptions see #2 below.

Our fee for handling and packaging is $4.00 per order. We will charge you the actual UPS or USPS charges at the time of shipping and you will receive a statement of those charges with your shipment.

Here are some things to know:

  1. Our UPS Ground Service area is AZ, CO, UT, WA, OR, CA, NV, ID, WY and MT.
  2. If you live in a state not covered above and are able to receive and care for your plants while they are dormant, or if you live in a state where winter planting is the norm, we will ship plants to you via UPS-Ground service from October 15th through March 1st weather permitting. This can reduce the shipping costs dramatically. After March 1st, we will ship UPS 3rd –Day Air to guarantee that your plants reach you in good condition. Please indicate you want UPS Ground service in the Comments section of our order form. This option does not apply to Alaska and Hawaii.
  3. Remember, if you work in a commercial area and can receive your order at work, you can further lower your UPS charges. Just fill in your work address as the shipping address. Be sure to let us know this is a commercial address.
  4. Shipping for International orders is handled and priced on a case by case basis depending on the agreements and laws of the United States and the receiving country.  All permits and inspections for receipt of a plant order in the receiving country are the sole responsibility of the customer.

SUBSTITUTIONS
Although we have a good supply of all plants listed in the catalogue, we cannot always anticipate the demand for every plant. Please let us know if we may substitute for any plant that is out of stock. We have provided a space for alternates on the order form. We substitute with plants of equal or greater value than the plant originally requested.

OUR PROMISE
We promise you that we ship only strong, vigorous, correctly named plants from our nursery. If you should have a problem with any of our plants or receive them in damaged condition, please contact us within five (5) days of their arrival so we can address the problem.
