The selection Sanguisorba officinalis 'Martin's Mulberry' comes from West Acre Nursery in Norfolk, England, and is distinguished by its thimble-shaped inflorescences of burgundy red. These rise on airy stems well above the shapely, pinate foliage at its base. To us at the nursery, it is the filagree of the inflorescences and stems against the summer sky that is the most appealing. These hold their shape and upright habit even as they darken with age.

Early to midsummer.   4-6 ft. x 2 ft.
