N. China, Japan. Among the most spectacular of late season bloomers, the Lespedeza thunbergii 'Gibralter' is a large somewhat woody perennial bearing long, profusely flowered, pendant stems. They look like colorful fountains when they are in bloom. There are few plants that are as dramatic, even in this more compact form. Because they lack presence in the winter and early spring, companion them with evergreen or winter blooming shrubs.
Late summer. 5 ft. x 5 ft.
