This is a vigorous vine with uncommonly colored bell-shaped flowers. The sepals are purple brown on the outside and edged in yellow. The filaments are yellow and purple with black anthers. All in all, this colorfol combination makes for something not frequently seen in gardens. The lush gray green foliage is pinnate, consisting of five leaflets. Because it blooms for such a long time and is so vigorous, this is a good vine to grow on fences, up large trellises, over sheds and the like. This is a cross with Clematis intricata and is sometimes listed as Clematis intricata 'Vince Denny'.

July to October.  9-12 ft.
