One of life's pleasures is finding a plant that teaches you something new. Clematis PIILU ('EPPIVCD') (Uno Kvistik) is a compact, early, sometimes double, but mostly single-blooming vine that can easily be made to bloom on a 3-ft. pot-stake. This was one of the first European clematis that was marketed as having that habit and indeed it paved the way for a new line of plants. Ideal for patio containers and small gardens. The mauve pink sepals have dark pink central bars. The filaments are pale with golden anthers. Later blooms are always single. All of our Clematis are two year old plants that are suitable for immediate planting in your garden.

May to June; September to October.   4-5 ft.

Early flowering in the spring on the previous year's growth. If you hard prune, you eliminate most or all of the early blooms. Instead, groom this after flowering by cutting back the top one-third to one-half of some stems. This encourages new growth for possible summer bloom.
