Lavandula 'Royal Velvet' (Andy Van Hevelingen) was selected by a local nurseryman for its long spikes that keep the rich color of their flowers when dried. This is an excellent, compact shrub with an overall silvery gray appearance. Very fragrant.

July.  30 in. x 40 in.

Violet Blue flowers

Sun     Zones 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
This is a cultivar of Lavandula angustifolia. Lavenders need full sun and very good drainage. Because of our rainy winters, we amend our soil with 1/4 ten gravel and top dress with the same to keep plant stems and foliage from resting on wet soil. Photo courtesy of Tamara Paulat.
