On a warm summer day, the scent of Lavandula 'Carolyn Dille' ( 'Sleeping Beauty') (Thomas DeBaggio, 1988) is so sweet and heavy it makes us drowsy. Perhaps the soporific nature of the plant is what is being celebrated in its trade name. Mid-green leaves on a somewhat wild-looking shrub.

June-July.  18 in. x 18 in.

Violet Blue flowers

Sun     Zones 5, 6, 7, 8
This is a cultivar of Lavandula angustifolia. Lavenders need full sun and very good drainage. Because of our rainy winters, we amend our soil with 1/4 ten gravel and top dress with the same to keep plant stems and foliage from resting on wet soil.
