Lavandula 'Barbara Joan'

We originally received Lavandula 'Barbara Joan' as 'Dutch Mill' which was the name of a well-known Oregon herb nursery. The Genus Lavandula tells us this should properly be called 'Barbara Joan' after the niece of the breeder. The young leaves are silver turning dark green as they age. The flower spikes are pyramidal in shape. Very pleasantly pungent.

Summer.  21 in. x 24 in.

Dark Violet Blue flowers

Sun     Zone 6, 7, 8, 9
This is a cultivar of Lavandula angustifolia. Lavenders need full sun and very good drainage. Because of our rainy winters, we amend our soil with 1/4 ten gravel and top dress with the same to keep plant stems and foliage from resting on wet soil.
