(We acquired this from Heronswood Nursery with the acquisition number DJHT 99116.) We are fascinated by all things hydrangea and have enjoyed growing this species in our woodland gardens. The four-inch leaves are narrow and tapering and lightly hairy to the touch on both sides although the hairs are not immediately visible. In habit, Hydrangea angustipetala is very upright yet short. It has never reached its expected height but seems content to stay a medium to small shrub. The flowerheads are somewhat small and appear in a lacecap arrangement in the summer.
