Gunnera manicata is the reason the Dinosaur Bed got its name. Children marveled at the huge, 5- to 6-foot wide leaves with rough upper surfaces and prickly reverses that rise on 5-foot or taller stems. We heard one of them say, "Cool, this is like "Jurassic Park"." Tall cylindrical panicles of tiny flowers rise at the base of the plant. We grow this in a modified bog with lots of organic matter and some drainage. In colder climates, cover with straw in winter.

Summer.  5 ft. x 6 ft.
