Korea, Japan. We grow many species of monkshood in our garden, some of which bloom in the late spring and others in late summer. Aconitum napiforme is the last of those that we grow to come into bloom. It is a robust species, very upright and shrubby in appearance. The palmate leaves which are deeply divided but shallowly lobed contribute to the shrubby look. Congested terminal racemes of purple hooded flowers are much appreciated in the autumn garden.
