This is the most dangerously attractive Acanthus that we grow. Because it is from the eastern Mediterranean, we have put it in one of our dry borders which rarely get summer water. The 20-inch leaves are dark green with pronounced white central veins. They glisten with silvery white hairs and are punctuated with sharp spines along their ruffled margins. In our garden, the bloom spike stands about 18 inches bearing a six- to nine-inch raceme of hooded flowers with purple bracts.

Late spring to midsummer.  24 in. x 24 in.

Greenish White/Purple flowers
