Special thanks to Dorothy Reed who gave us seeds of this South American beauty. The surfaces of the elongated heart-shaped leaves are slightly glossy, belying their velvety feel. The five petaled flowers are shocking sky blue. There are tiny rings of dark blue at the center of the flowers that emphasize the brilliance of their color. This is a somewhat tender perennial but has survived unprotected for many years in Dorothy's garden which is in the path of our notorious East Winds. Grow this as a lax climber against a wall or companion plant.
July through August. bloom 24-40 in.
