Deciduous. The royal ferns in our gardens have finally reached maturity. Ideally they should be grown in a moist border or on the edge of a stream or pool. The sterile fronds are broadly triangular and 3 ft. long. In summer the fertile fronds (which can reach 6 ft.) emerge with brownish spore capsules on their small tassel leafed tip segments.
