Only early season customers get to see this upright shrub in all its glory when the black catkins emerge. A close look reveals purple red highlights in the black and orange yellow anthers. The mid-green leaves also deserve a closer look when they emerge a little later. Their upper surfaces are shiny and they have downy undersides. Early to midspring. bloom 10 ft. x 12 ft.
