This woodland relative of the hydrangea blooms just in time to refresh the heat-stressed August garden. The waxy, down facing 1/5 in. wide flowers are soft yellow, reminiscent of a day lily in texture. The foliage is basically rounded, somewhat palmate, 5 inches long and 4.5 inches wide. Try this with Hakonechloa macra 'Aureola' nearby.
