Found by Elizabeth Strangman in Croatia. This is a self-seeder but we are so fond of it we allow it to bloom. Cut the flowering stems before seed-set and the leaves then form a dense mound. The great charm of the leaves is in the brown purple blotches that surround the base of each lobe. Tall, airy, 30-inch flower spikes bear purple flowers.
Early summer. bloom 30 in. x 18 in.
